a pinch of irony it takes

Half-hearted guide to surviving yet another food revolution (and finding peace with your plate)

Let's face it: food used to be a simple thing. Were you hungry? Were you eating. Was there a party? She would bake cake. Did you want to get back in shape for the summer? You took the mayonnaise out of the sandwich for three weeks and life went on.

Not today. Today to eat a tomato you must first check its zodiacal ascendant, make sure that it was caught during the summer solstice by a Tibetan monk and check that it does not contain "toxic antinutrients secreted by plants to conquer the world".

Welcome to the era when nutrition is no longer a science, but a high voltage fashion show.

The fair of the absurd: from the "without everything" to the miraculous ingredient

Every six months there is a new public enemy number one and a new saving ingredient that costs as much as rhodium per gram.

We went from nourish us to collect labels. Enter the bar and hear orders that look like tax codes: "A steamed barley decaf, cold-pressed cashew milk, with no added sugars but with two drops of organic unicorn tears".

But the real question is: are we really doing good or are we just following a TikTok trend to feel like we're performing?

The “perfect eating” trap

Let's be clear: knowing what we put on the plate is essential. I'm not telling you to have breakfast with fries and fizzy drinks (although the idea, once every three years, has its charm). The point is another: we have turned self-care into corporal punishment.

We chase the sculpted abdominal or porcelain skin by eliminating food groups as if we were in an episode of SURVIVOR. We forget that the salute it's not a mathematical equation and our body is not a Formula 1 engine to push to the limit with the super petrol of the moment.

Loving each other is another thing. And it's a two-layered job:

1. The outside (Because the eye also wants its part, and that's right)

Taking care of your body, seeing it as strong, active and in salute it's a wonderful feeling. But the ideal physical form is not that of the model retouched with artificial intelligence; it is the one that allows you to climb three flights of stairs without having to ask for the extreme unction and to mirror yourself smiling. Food should fuel this strength, not drain your mental energies into obsessive calculations.

2. The interior (What "hype" diets always forget)

What's the point of eating curly cabbage salad if you eat it with your liver eroded by anxiety? salute mental and emotional is part of nutrition. Food is also conviviality, memories, comfort, celebration. If a dinner out with friends becomes a source of stress because “I don't know if the oil was cold-pressed”, we are feeding the muscles but we are starving the soul.

My advice (by those who have seen them all)

Stop chasing the superfood of the week. There is no magic wand powder and there is no demonic food that will ruin your life in a bite.

True nutrition — serious, sustainable and smart — is based on a few simple rules:

  1. Variety and common sense: Eat real, colorful, fresh food most of the time.
  2. No blame: Saturday night pizza doesn't cancel out a week of healthy choices. It's called "living."
  3. Listening Learn to feel what your body needs, not what the influencer on duty says with the ring lamp pointed in your face.

Let's love each other more and stress less. The salute real is not a trend to show off on Instagram: it is that silent balance that makes you get out of bed in the morning with the right energy and a smile on your lips.

And now excuse me, I'm going to eat an apple. And yes, she has a normal peel, she was not blessed by anyone.
